Homework Policy v All Homework will be due the following school day unless specified in a “Letter to the Parents.” Ø This will usually be a project that requires research or parent involvement. v Homework that is not turned in on time (upon arrival to class) will result in a letter grade reduction for each day it is late Ø i.e. An “A” paper turned in one day late becomes a “B” paper, after two days it’s a “C” Ø I will not accept anything that is one week late I am a firm believer that “practice makes perfect.” The more we practice: in class and at home, the better we become. Homework is also a way for me to see where each student needs extra help or which concepts we need to spend more time on. Homework and in class work will be a large portion of the grade. Make—Up Work v What constitutes make- up work Ø Make-up work is work missed due to an excused absence. § This might include illness, doctor appointment, or a family function. § I will expect a note from the parents or the doctor for me to consider them excused. § I cannot give them the lesson they missed, so it will be the student’s responsibility to read any chapters we covered in their absence. v All students will have the same amount of time to finish assignments. Ø This includes class discussions § i.e. if we spend two days discussing, then one day on our assignment your child will have three days total. I have read the above policy explaining the homework and make-up work and I fully understand it. I agree to adhere to these stipulations and if there are any questions I will contact the teacher and/or administration.
